Move aside, chocolate and wine. This year, Kraft Heinz is releasing its own version of a Valentine’s Day treat: a limited edition hot pink-colored macaroni and cheese that tastes like candy. (Yes, you read that right.)
The product is called Candy Kraft Mac & Cheese, and it comes in a kit that features a box of Kraft Mac & Cheese, plus one candy packet to add flavor and color to the dish.
Although the combination of cheesy pasta and sugar flavoring made up of fructose, natural flavors and vanilla extract is a bit unusual, Kraft describes the taste of the pasta as “raspberries and cotton candy with a touch of cheesy goodness,” according to a tweet from the company’s Twitter page responding to a fan’s comment.
In our minds, we imagine it tasting like kettle corn, which manages to be both sweet and savory at the same time.
As you might expect, Kraft’s announcement generated a wide range of comments from every corner of the internet, with some people comparing the look of the pink noodles to rare ground beef and others expressing interest at how it might taste.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Fallon dubbed the pink-colored pasta as “Pepto Bis-mac” during a recent monologue on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” The segment was posted to Twitter:
